Shui Bing graduated from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music with a Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in violin performance. Prior to joining the Singapore Symphony Orchestra in 1998, Shui Bing taught at the Secondary Music School attached to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. He was the violist of the Shanghai Youth String Quartet and performed at the First International Chamber Music Competition in Melbourne in 1991. He was also invited to perform as a soloist with the Shanghai Radio Philharmonic in 1996.
